The Divercity Series: Greeks of the Top End

Divercity Series: Greeks of the Top End celebrates people of Greek heritage in the Top End.

This series is an independent project solely run by Georgia Politis. Adult members from Series One and Two of the Darwin Divercity Series are the very first members of the new edition.

What this edition is about

Celebrating Greek diaspora

This edition of the Divercity Series celebrates people of Greek heritage from all walks of life. Whether you are a farmer or have established a major business, this series welcomes people who are willing to share their story.

The stories will focus on journey, heritage and life

The Divercity Series does not focus on how much money, status or influence one person may have. Instead, the stories focus on the journey; creating a legacy for others to be inspired from.

Not every application is guaranteed

Each application is assessed by Georgia independently. This ensures complete neutrality and no outside influence. She does not look for status, money or influence. It is focusing on the quiet change makers, or people who have heavily contributed yet are never recognised. Stories must be verifiable.

What successful applicants recieve

A professional photography session by Georgia Politis - an international award winning photographer.

Georgia will then send each member digital copies of the final images.

A short story. All stories are prepared by Georgia Politis herself, approved by each member before going ahead with printing/publication.

Being apart of a unique project which has over 100 members from 2020.

The Divercity Series is a collection of series formed in 2020 by Georgia Politis. The Greeks of the Top End Edition will be published as its own book, and if we raise enough funds, an exhibition will follow.

Before you apply

The Divercity Series celebrates individuals who may not have had the opportunity to share their story, experiences, or contributions, or who have not yet received recognition within our community. It is open to people of Greek heritage living in the Northern Territory, or who have lived in and contributed to the Northern Territory and can travel to the photographer’s location for their session (if they no longer live in the NT), to be included in the series. They must be currently alive.

To ensure the Greeks of the Top End edition continues to highlight a diverse range of voices and experiences, eligibility will be limited to individuals who are not currently serving on a Greek Committee (including GOCNA, Kalymnian Brotherhood of Darwin, Cyprus Community of the NT and Saint Savvas Parish), as current committee members already have established opportunities for recognition and involvement within their community, and this may be a conflict of interest. Previous committee members may apply. Exceptions will be made for people over 70 or who have volunteered for over two decades.

This series will prioritise people over 70 who have contributed to the community without reward (i.e., not in a role that obligates them to undertake tasks or pay them to do so). The series will also highlight pioneers in the Greek community. Only those over 18 can apply.

Applications are open to individuals. If more than one person needs to be in a photo (such as siblings or couples), they must explain why in the application, and spots are limited.
